Palghar, Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly pushing women into prostitution in Nalasopara of Palghar district in Maharashtra. An official gave this information on Sunday. The official said that on March 15, the officials of the Anti Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar Police Commissionerate, Nalasopara unit, arrested the accused.

AHTC senior inspector Santosh Chowdhary said, “Police had received a tip-off that a man was forcing some women into prostitution. After which the police arrested the accused person from Nalasopara Naka.

Police said that on the basis of information provided by the accused, the police raided a local mall and rescued two women from prostitution. A case under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act was registered against the accused at Waliv police station, he said.
